Scroll-linked animation
Also called: scrubbing, scroll-driven animation, scrub.
An animation that follows your scroll exactly: scroll down and it moves forward, scroll up and it rewinds. A scroll-triggered animation, by contrast, just plays once.
Scroll inside the box, then scroll back. The wheel turns only as far as you scroll, and rewinds when you go back.

Say it in a prompt
Scrub the wheel's rotation to scroll progress (scroll-linked, not a one-time trigger): 0° at the top of the section, 360° at the bottom, and it rewinds when scrolling back up. Seen on
- Lando Norris: While a section is pinned, huge lines of quote text slide sideways as you scroll.
You might describe it as
- the part stays still and the text moves when I scroll
- animation follows my scrolling and rewinds
- the phone turns as I scroll
Not to be confused with
- Parallax
Scroll-linked animation can move anything with your scroll; parallax is one use of it, with layers at different speeds.
